Globalization” was delivered by Dr Donato Romano, from University of
Florence/ Italy, on 20 December, at the NAPC premisis. |

The seventh Scientific Committee (SC) meeting was held at the NAPC premises, during December 12-15, 2005. The SC is composed of two international members, Mr F.Viciani and Mr F. De Filippis, and two national members, Mr M. Khazma and Mr M. Yassin. The Committee reviewed the ongoing studies and researches being conducted by the Center, and evaluated its recent activities. The second Steering Committee meeting of the Project GCP/SYR/006/ITA-Phase III “Sustainable Capacity Consolidation of the National Agricultural Policy Center (NAPC)” took place on 6-7 September 2005 at the NAPC premises. The meeting discussed recent progress in Project implementation as well as the detailed plan of activities for the next two years, including support to NAPC management, training of its staff, assistance to policy analysis activities and to the production and dissemination of information relevant for the economic analysis of Syrian agriculture. A training course on “Concepts and Quantitative Methods for Supply & Demand Analysis of Agro-food Commodities” was delivered by Dr C. Cafiero, the FAO consultant, from University of Naples, Italy, and held at NAPC premises for two weeks from 28 August to 12 September. The course covered economic theory and econometric practices; aggregate agricultural supply analysis; and food consumption analysis. |

In May 19, 2005 TPD made interior seminar in which policy briefs were presented. The briefs covered many topics related to agricultural trade policy. The seminar was attended by the thematic advisor Mr. coque who gave some comments and directions for the TPD members. Download the PPS |

During May 10-12, 2005 a scientific committee was held .It was attended by Mr viciani and Mr De Fillipis from the Italian side and Mr khazma and Mr Yassin from the Syrian side. Divisions coordinators presented their output during the last period and answered questions raised by committee members and NAPC staff members. Download program and PPS |

The launched third Phase of the Project GCP/SYR/006/ITA, known as “Sustainable Capacity Consolidation of the National Agricultural Policy Center (NAPC)” reflects the continuous and fruitful cooperation approach among Syria, Italy, and FAO. The three parties met on the occasion of the first Steering Committee of the Project, held at the NAPC premises on 7 and 8 February 2005. |
