main objectives of the Agro-Food Research division are: to identify, analyze and
understand the functional and structural characteristics and the economic
performance of the Syrian agro-food sector.
The division will timely trace changes of the sector’s components - plant and
animal production, agricultural processing industry, food distribution - as well
as the organization of the relevant markets, providing policy makers with the
needed information and recommendations about current and foreseen problems, in
appropriate time and quality; and promoting awareness and dialogue among all
stakeholders on economic and policy issues of relevance for the sector.
